Abstract

Compact antenna with multiband resonance forms an integral parts of wireless communication as it allows the same antenna to be used for multipurpose wireless application. A compact multiband antenna with slotted radiating monopole structure for L-band and Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) is discussed in this paper. Compactness and multiband resonance phenomenon are obtained by creating slots on the radiating patch. These slots affect the surface current density, thereby modifying the resonance phenomenon of the antenna. The designed antenna is compact with a total dimension of 0.14λ × 0.14λ × 0.18λ (at lower resonant band of 1.2 GHz) The antenna resonates at 1.2, 3.9 and 5.7 GHz with simulation −10dB impedance bandwidth of about 6.72%, 4.3% and 2.44% respectively.
