Abstract

The mutual coupling between two silted MIMO antennas having center to center distance of 0.33λo is lowered by using a three pair of unequal length of slits in the groundplane. The proposed MIMO antenna have resonating frequency of 5.8 GHz and has impedance bandwidth of 150 MHz. With help of proposed technique, mutual coupling is lowered by 15 dB. The parametric study is done to improve the isolation over the 5.7255.875 GHz band. The proposed antenna is compact having dimension of 40mm × 24 mm and is constructed on cheaply available FR-4 substrate and is tested using network analyzer. The measured result indicates that the designed compact MIMO antenna has ECC less than 0.001 dB and good radiation pattern and S 21 < −15 dB over the 5.725–5.875 GHz frequency band. The designed antenna is suitable for WLAN applications at 5.8 GHz.
