Abstract

A novel compact CPW-fed slot antenna for quadband operation is proposed. The antenna is printed on a 25 × 20 mm 2 FR4 substrate with thickness of 1.6 mm and relative permittivity of 4.6. Three L-shaped slots and a rectangular slot are fabricated on the substrate to achieve quadband operation of 2.07-2.77, 3.3-3.8, 5.15-5.35, and 5.7-5.89 GHz. As the four resonant frequencies of antenna are excited by certain parts of the patch respectively, one resonant frequency can be flexibly tuned with little effect on the other. Experimental results demonstrate the good broadside radiation patterns for the four bands and suggest that the proposed antenna is suitable for the M-WiMAX and WLAN applications.
