Abstract

In this communication a compact printed microstrip-fed triple band-notched Ultra Wideband (UWB) antenna is presented. Notch bands encompassing 3.3–3.8 GHz Wi-MAX, 5.15–5.85 GHz WLAN and 7.9–8.4 GHz X-band satellite communication link are achieved by etching a Hilbert slot on the radiating monopole, etching a modified rectangular defect on the ground structure and the application of a fractal resonator respectively. The antenna's Ultra wide bandwidth ranges from 2.6 GHz to 12 GHz (VSWR ≤ 2). The agreement between the simulation and empirical results advocates that the intended antenna can be a worthy candidate for various UWB communication systems.
