Abstract

A new supersonic molecular beam line has been attachedto an existing UHV apparatus. Three different nozzles mountedon a rotatable manipulator allow for independent gas feeds. Inthis way, dosing sequences with different reactive gases can becarried out within a few minutes. Due to the compact design ofthe beam line, the apparatus does not forfeit its originalflexibility and mobility. Apart from standard techniques likethermal desorption spectroscopy, low-energy electrondiffraction, reflection absorption infrared spectroscopyand x-ray photoelectron/Auger electronspectroscopy, a quadrupole mass spectrometer mounted on alinear drive and viewports allows for photochemical experimentsor other laser applications.
