Abstract

A compact integrated LAN-WDM EML TOSA employing stripline with an aperture in the FPC was demonstrated for 200 and 400 Gb/s Ethernet over a 10 km range. The back to back TDECQs obtained were less than 1.37 dB at 200 Gb/s and 2.82 dB at 400 Gb/s, respectively. In addition to the good TDECQ characteristics, the TDECQ penalties due to electrical crosstalk were well suppressed thanks to the signal line structure in the FPC. There were almost no TDECQ penalties at 200 Gb/s, and those at 400 Gb/s were less than 0.4 dB for all lanes, which agreed very well with our simulation. Investigating the transmission over 10 km of fiber at 400 Gb/s reveals that no dispersion penalties occurred for any of the lanes thanks to the LAN-WDM wavelength spacing.
