Abstract

A compact magnetic spectrometer for measuring electron conversion coefficients is described. A very efficient method to subtract the activation background, based on a pulsed beam-coincidence technique is also presented and discussed. The chosen angle of detection for the electrons avoids the ambiguities present in previous methods and allows straightforward assignments of transition multipolarities in a number of specified cases.
