Abstract

High pulse rate spark chambers require EHT power supplies capable of charging up the capacitive load of the pulser units employed in such systems. Typical values for this capacitive load are in the range 10 to 50 nF which for pulse rates of 10 per second and above results in a high current demand from the EHT supply. This report describes a compact EHT capacitor charging unit developed at the Rutherford High Energy Laboratory for use in such applications.
