Abstract

A compact dual-band three-pole Chebyshev filtering patch antenna with orthogonal polarizations in the two bands is developed for 2.4/5.8-GHz ISM-band applications. Step impedance resonators and aperture coupled feed techniques are integrated together to fulfill the goal. The synthesis procedure is discussed using formulation and design curves. The advantages of the proposed design, including harmonic suppression and controllable bandwidth, are verified by experiments. According to the summary table, this dual-band filtering antenna, realized in planar form, shows either a more compact size or improved radiation characteristics when compared with those reported in the open literature.
