Abstract
Most dilution refrigerators are fairly large and require a substantial amount of Helium-3/Helium-4 mixture which is circulated by a large and complex pumping system. We have designed and constructed a compact dilution refrigerator insert which will run with a small 16 m3/hr rotary pump and a bench top gas handling cabinet. This new dilution refrigerator insert runs on less than 10 ltr of mixture and can be cooled down in about 6 hours from room temperature.
