Abstract

A circular patch dual element Multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) antenna with an impedance bandwidth of 9.48GHz (20.83-30.31 GHz) using a partial ground plane is proposed for 5G millimeter wave applications. The envelope correlation coefficient (ECC), diversity gain (DG), mean effective gain (MEG), total active reflection coefficient (TARC), and channel capacity loss (CCL) of the MIMO antenna are addressed, and the obtained values are 0.012, 9.98dB, 3dB, - 16dB, and 0.20 bits/sec/Hz, respectively. At 30GHz, the maximum gain of 8.05dBi is attained. Furthermore, a radiation efficiency of greater than 93% is attained in the frequency range of 20.83 to 30.31 GHz. The suggested MIMO antenna is built on a Rogers RO 4003 substrate with dimensions of 25×20×0.76mm3 , a dielectric constant of 3.55, and a loss tangent of 0.0027
