Abstract

A compact microstrip rectangular patch and circular patch antenna operating at around 1.5 terahertz frequency to meet the demand for high data rates in wireless communication has been proposed in this paper. The proposed antenna substrate has a length of 200 µm, width of 200 µm and a thickness of 20 µm. The compactness and high frequency of the antenna makes it suitable for wireless sensor network applications. The electromagnetic parameters such as S11 parameters, VSWR, gain, directivity, efficiency and the radiation properties of proposed antenna are analysed using high frequency simulator software (HFSS) based on finite element method (FEM). The simulation results show that both the proposed antenna has radiating efficiency greater than 90%.
