Abstract

A highly selective wide band pass filter is designed for UWB applications with a transmission zero at the upper side band. The filter is designed with a flower shaped defected ground structure and T-shaped multi mode resonator at the top. A slot is introduced at the bottom of the circuit to maintain the selectivity at the upper side band and also to control the band width of the pass band. More possibilities of controlling the band width of the filter is also explored by varying the coupling gap of T-shaped resonators at the top. The filter is designed on a RT Duroid substrate with a dielectric constant of 2.2 and a substrate height of 1.575 mm. Simulation results show an excellent band pass response from 2.7 GHz to 10.6 GHz with an insertion loss of 0.3 dB. It is observed that the return loss is more than 11 dB for the entire pass band. The filter is compact in size and occupies an area of less than 360 mm2.
