A Community Development Framework Based on the Maqasid Shariah and the Millenium Development Goals

Abstract

The article is an attempt to integrate the context of Maqasid al shariah as a framework for Community development and the Millenium Development Goals (MDG's). This article aims to help people understand the perspective that by understanding the perspective of Islam through the Maqasid al-Shariah, one can be able to see that community development planners would be able to integrate these ideas and see a harmonius relationship with the MDGs. In the long run, this would enable community development planners to be more sensitive to the unique needs of Muslims enabling Muslims to define and express development in terms that they find nearer to their spirituality.
