Abstract

In wireless communication systems, the use of convolutional code with Viterbi algorithm and discrete wavelet transform to decreases SNR in order to increases system capacity. And recently, when referred to multi-standard designs reconfiguration mechanisms, flexibility and parameterization techniques are becoming an important subject. Therefore, this paper takes advantage of the Common Operator approach (parameterization) to introduce a mutual butterfly/ lattice structure for the DWT and Viterbi algorithms. The main advantage of presenting common operators is the regular architecture which contributes in multi-standard designs when carried out in this parameterization approach. Because of the regularity in architecture, the presented approach can analyze half the power consumption that of the sum of power consumed by individual architectures of DWT and Viterbi. Also, one another achievement of the system is the image quality metric in terms of root mean square error is obtained in the range 0.2188to 0.2941.
