Abstract

A mathematic model to describe transient heat transfer and flow problems during pipelining hot crude oil is established. The model can be used to solve typical transient heat transfer and flow problems of hot oil pipelines, such as the change of throughput rate and heated temperature of oil, shut-down and restarting of pipeline, and preheating newly-built pipeline. For the transient heat transfer problem brought by changing oil heated temperature, the calculation result of the common model developed in the paper is between calculation result of Russian analytical formula and Russian measurement results. As another example, the thermal process of preheating Dong-Bin pipeline is calculated, the comparison between field measurement results and calculation results shows that the common model developed in the paper can meet the demand of thermal calculation of field pipeline.
