Abstract

Abstract Forrstroemia secunda Dix. & Badhw. [=Bryonorrisia secunda (Dix. & Badhw.) Stark & Buck] is reduced to synonymy with Bryonorrisia acutifolia (Mitt.) Enroth comb. nov. (basionym Anomodon acutifolius Mitt.). The monotypic Bryonorrisia Stark & Buck is transferred from the Anomodontaceae to the Leskeaceae on the basis of gametophyte and sporophyte characters. It is emphasized that Bryonorrisia is closely related to Herpetineuron (C. Mull.) Card. as well as a few other leskeaceous genera, but sufficiently distinct to be recognized as an independent genus.
