Abstract

A combined horn antenna with a cosecant-squared beam in elevation plane and narrow beam in azimuth plane is studied in this paper. The antenna consists of an edge-slotted waveguide linear array, a flared horn and an E-metal plate lens. The linear array is used to feed the flared horn and produce a narrow beam in azimuth plane. The E-metal plate lens is employed to form a cosecant-squared shape pattern in elevation plane. The structure of the metal plate lens consists of copper-clad laminates and high mechanical strength foams, and the structure is benefit for fabrication and fixation. At last the simulated and experimented results are presented.
