Abstract

Some important results have been recently obtained in the analysis of reliability of recoverable systems (see, e.g., [i-7]). However, many topics still remain unsolved. One of these is the determination of the stationary reliability indexes (serviceability factor, idleness factor, time to failure, and mean idle time) of complex systems with restricted recovery (arbitrary number of repair units). Here the adjective "complex" denotes systems in which failure depends not only on the number of failed servers but also on their location and sometimes even the failure sequence. Examples of such systems are provided by the bridge system (Fig, i) and by the bridge system with sliding backup (Fig. 2).
