Abstract

A new colorimetric method for the estimation of pure testosterone with ceric sulphate in sulphuric acid is reported. The method is specific, sensitive, reliable and convenient for routine use. Of all the steroids examined with this reagent only a few gave positive reaction which may aid in identification and yet require little material. Work is now in progress to apply this colour method to estimate urinary testosterone in developing children.
