Abstract

Many a times it is the manner in which it is said or done that yields the success and pleasure. Many writers and thinkers have developed and prescribed rules of manners or codes of conduct. Indian scholars too have developed and prescribed codes of conduct for pleasant and happy living. This paper attempts to present and highlight a collection of 100 codes of conducts from a Tamil work namely Acharakkovai (belonging to the 'post Sangam period' corresponding to between 100 – 500 CE) since many of these codes of conduct are good not only for Indians but also for the whole mankind, irrespective of place and time, for a happy living both at the individual and social level. These codes of conduct are a path to constant wealth and are useful guidelines for managers as well!
