Abstract
This case study examines efforts to study and mitigate low-frequency noise produced by boilers serving a large hospital. The work was completed by a collaborative group of citizens, hospital staff, acoustical consultants, and noise control solutions providers. While none of the noise controls are novel from an engineering perspective, the criteria, experimental methods, and consensus strategies used for this project could serve as a model for similar community challenges.
