Abstract

This invited Team Profile was created by the teams of Dana D. Medina, LMU Munich, Germany; Laura M. Salonen, CINBIO, University of Vigo, Spain ; Tim Kowalczyk, Western Washington University, Bellingham, USA; João Rocha, CICECO, University of Aveiro, Portugal; and Akshay Rao, University of Cambridge, UK. They recently published an article on a three-component synthesis strategy for the formation of covalent organic frameworks (COFs) containing extended fused aromatics, which enables the synthesis of the building blocks and COF on a similar time scale. The methodology was also successfully applied to produce highly crystalline, preferentially oriented thin films with nanostructured surfaces on various substrates.
