A cloud formation process contradictory to the classical occlusion development investigated with satellite images and model output parameters

Abstract

Satellite images and movies often show a process, whereby a cloud band which is situated at the rear of a well developed cold front in the beginning, becomes involved in the whole circulation. Thereby it acquires gradually the qualities of a cold front, manifests itself with a spiral configuration similar to an occluded front and modifies the original cold front remarkably. Several model output parameters illuminate the process and point out prognostical consequences.
