Abstract

The scope of this paper is to develop a calculation method of a closed form solution for the internal stability of the landfill considering spatial variability of the input seismic motion based on log-spiral combined sliding surface. A calculation method for multi-point seismic load of the log-spiral combined sliding surface landfill was proposed, which used to establish the multi-point seismic stability calculation model of the log-spiral combined sliding surface landfill. The calculation results for a typically shaped landfill of this method showed a lower result comparing with the method considering pseudo-static seismic action and translational slip surface. Thus, the coupling effect of the internal sliding of the landfill and multi-point seismic action should not be ignored in the seismic design of landfills.
