Abstract

A widely publicized article in the Journal of the American Medical Association purported to refute therapeutic touch. The article is carefully examined; it is concluded that the reported research does not justify the JAMA authors’ conclusions but that further research is necessary and desirable to settle the question of whether therapeutic touch practitioners can detect a human energy field.
