Abstract

Objectives: To study the frequency and causation of hypertrophic olivary degeneration (HOD) reported in a radiologic database of the Mayo Clinic Florida and Arizona. HOD usually occurs following lesions involving the dento-rubro-olivary pathway. There are two types of HOD, unilateral and bilateral. Current literature suggests bilateral HOD is less frequent. The epidemiology and etiology of HOD are unknown, particularly bilateral HOD.
