Abstract
A clinical trial has been carried out with 0.76% sodium monofluorophosphate (MFP) in a calcium carbonate base dentifrice. The regular use of the MFP dentifrice resulted in significantly lower caries increments than those observed for the control group. MFP is compatible with a calcium carbonate base dentifrice, which has a higher pH than most dentifrices. This high pH may be important in relation to acid neutralization within plaque.
