Abstract

We examined antibody levels and side effects in 90 persons who received human rabies immune globulin made by the Merieux Institute (M-HRIG). In the recommended dose of 20 i.u. kg −1 , M-HRIG appeared to be a safe, medically acceptable product that provided adequate rabies antibody titres while interfering minimally with vaccine-induced antibody. When used in a dose of 44 i.u. kg −1 , M-HRIG caused slight interference with vaccine-induced antibody titres and an unacceptably high rate of reactions.
