Abstract

Rainwater fish, the client species, were found to carry the trematode ectoparasite,Gyrodactylus, which were apparently browzed by the stickleback, the cleaner species. The complex behavior pattern observed under aquarium conditions suggests this symbiosis may occur naturally between the two species found together in shallow weed beds in the estuary.
