Abstract

This paper describes a mathematical model for use in the problem of geographically allocating planned classroom spaces on a new campus. The model develops an optimum location-allocation distribution while encompassing construction costs, academic location preference measures and various budget considerations. It allows the campus planner to better assist the architect and to evaluate the architectural schematics. An application of the model, as described in the article, resulted in significant construction cost savings.
