Abstract

The issue of classification of signs is a very important component of Peirce's semiotic theory. Peirce spent much of his lifetime on detailed classification of signs. Although it is difficult to find in reality exact examples that fit into each category of his elaborate system, the fact that signs are related to many complex factors seems to become obvious as a result of this classification. Also, it indicates that each category of signs can be analyzed from different angles. The nature of signs can thus be revealed in various ways.
