Abstract

A new class of two-step collocation methods for the numerical solution of Volterra integro-differential equations is proposed. These methods are obtained by using the collocation points in the current and previous subintervals in order to obtain methods with desirable convergence order and good stability properties. The derivation of the proposed methods together with their convergence and stability analysis are described. The theoretical results and efficiency of the methods are confirmed with some numerical experiments.
