Abstract

In this paper, a circularly polarized (CP) broadband metasurface loading and high gain low-profile patch antenna based on multi-layer structure is presented. The proposed antenna can achieve a impedance bandwidth (IBW) of 27.3% from 13.49 GHz to 17.76 GHz, and its average realized gain in the operating band is greater than 10dBic, furthermore, it has an compact overall size of <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$1.39\ \lambda_{0}\times 0.65\ \lambda_{0}\times 0.15\ \lambda_{0}$</tex> (where <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\lambda 0$</tex> is the wavelength in free space at the center frequency of 15.6 GHz).
