Abstract

A lumped circuit model of the rod antenna test setups adopted in automotive (CISPR 25 ALSE test method) and military (MIL-STD 461 RE102 test method) testing is here derived for the purpose of getting physical insight into the involved electrical quantities. The model permits, for example, to explain the different responses that are observed when the counterpoise of the rod antenna is connected to the shielded enclosure or floated (as recently suggested by some Authors in order to improve test reproducibility). The effect of the ferrite sleeve which is required in the military test setup is also taken into account by the analysis.
