Abstract
(2 R)-2-Amino-8-methoxy-1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalene, a useful precursor of the 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor agonist 8-OH-DPAT ((2 R)-2-(dipropylamino)-8-hydroxytetrahydronaphthalene), has been synthesized from 1-methoxynaphthalene through a chemoenzymatic protocol. The same protocol has been subsequently applied to the synthesis of other (2 R)-2-amino-1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalenes.
