Abstract

In recent years, a lot of image encryption schemes based on chaotic systems have been extensively investigated to meet the increasing demand for real-time secure image transmission. In this paper, tent maps and swapping based confusion approach were applied to design an image encryption scheme so as to enhance the security and efficiency of chaos-based image cryptosystems. The security and performance of the proposed image encryption scheme have been analyzed thoroughly, including histograms, correlation coefficients, information entropy, key sensitivity analysis, key space analysis, differential analysis, etc. All the experimental results suggest that the proposed image encryption scheme is highly secure and robust to resist various common attacks, and therefore can be used for secure image and video communication applications.
