Abstract

With IEEE std802.16 been proposed, to provide QoS for the different requirements of wireless metropolitan area network has become a very important and challenging issue. Although IEEE std802.16 MAC (Medium Access Control) layer protocol proposed QoS to a variety of different applications, there is no schedule how to achieve the QoS requirements of standardization. That enables a distinction between equipment manufacturers' products to ensure interoperability while use their best solutions. Based on four priorities of the MAC layer protocol in IEEE std802.16, a relatively simple bandwidth allocation model is this thesis designed and simulated. Simulation indicated that the structure of the model ensured high priority service in an acceptable range, while ensuring low-priority real-time communication. The conclusion of the simulation covered the common issues.
