Abstract

AbstractA unique centralized approach to clinical research in a University Medical Center is described. This approach utilizes Pharm. D. practitioners as the on site administrators of ongoing studies at each medical specialty department. A Central Research Administrative Group provides overall administration of the program and liaises with pharmaceutical companies, representing the University. This approach has created a new role model for Pharm. D. practitioners as administrators of clinical research. Using a two-tiered organization, our centrally organized approach has achieved all of our short and medium range objectives within a three year period. This approach may serve as a model for organizing clinical research throughout United States Medical Centers.
