Abstract

India is a developing country occupies second rank in the textile industries across the globe. Energy is the main concern for every industry. Carrying out an energy audit in industry helps to identify the energy utilization of the entire industry. The presence of high level of inductive load and proliferation in power electronic devices has become a colossal burden for supplying the quality of power to the consumer. So power quality analysis can be viewed as a serious part of the energy auditing. Power factor is one of the main factors which affect the electrical power quality. This paper describes the analysis of energy audit in a textile industry. The results are tabulated by the observed reading from an industry and the graphs are interpreted for power factor. The key consideration for this study is to evaluate the right action on mitigation plan of low power factor for electrical loads in industries.
