Abstract

SUMMARY Aflatoxins are suspected human carcinogens and levels of contamination are subject to legislation. A case-study is presented which examines the application of a sequential acceptance test. The test is based on the analysis of a small number of samples of palm-kernels, ground-nut cake and peanut butter. It is proposed that the test, which has the potential to discriminate between acceptable and unacceptable batches, be adopted for commodities which are difficult to sample or process.
