Abstract

Congestion management (CM) is an imperative tool for improving the efficient utilization of the transmission network without any constraint problems. Congestion in transmission network become a vital issue after the deregulation of the power market. The aim of CM is to get rid of the congestion in the transmission lines, enhance the market monetary condition, efficiency, security, and reliability of deregulated power system. Several techniques/approaches have been adopted in various nations across the world. This paper presents work on a literature review of advanced congestion management methods over last few years. This paper presents a case study on recent congestion management methods using modified IEEE 6 bus system in terms of voltage profile, losses and generation cost. The simulation results shows that each method has its own advantage based on the objectives.
