Introduction

Gravity waves are commonly observed in the atmosphere and their importance has been emphasized during the last decade. The experimental study of atmospheric waves can be carried out by using instrumented aircratl (Lilly and Kennedy, 1973), UHF-VHF radars (Ruster et al, 1978), LIDAR (Chanin and Hauchecome, 1981) or constant level balloons (Massman, 1981).
