Abstract

Radiation oncology is a complex, intricate field that is consistently developing and changing. The need for robust constant problem solving and process improvement is crucial for clinical operations and patient safety. This is a case study on the use of “A3 thinking” in a complex academic medical radiation oncology department. A3 thinking is a problem solving methodology that operationalizes the concept of Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) and lean methodology of continuous improvement by using the A3 tool.
