Summary

Introduction

The COVID-19 outbreak (previously 2019-nCoV) was caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. This outbreak started in December 2019 in Wuhan city in Hubei province of China. The epidemiology of COVID-19 in Jordan has continued to evolve since cases were first detected in the country on March 2, 2020. At the onset of the global epidemic, the authorities implemented a range of measures to try and limit the spread of the virus. Two weeks after the first case was announced on March 2nd, 2020, Jordan decided to “flatten the curve” with a multi-pronged approach centered around mandatory physical distancing with a nationwide curfew, closed borders, and military patrols which was last seen last seen in the early 1990s [8, 10]. The authorities launched a public communication and awareness campaign to inform the public on testing and treatment facilities and imposed social distancing measures and the use of masks
