Abstract

Two acute fish diseases, hemorrhagic septicemia, caused by Aeromonas punctata Snieszko and saprolegniasis caused by Saprolegnia parasitica Coker, were observed in an Indian major carp, Labeo rohita (Ham.). Common carp ( Cyprinus carpio Linn.) suffered only from early stages of hemorrhagic septicemia. The diseases were prevalent only in winter and in tanks with a high organic load.
