Abstract

Gingival enlargement is usually characterized as an increase in the size of the gingiva. Idiopathic gingival enlargement is a rare condition and the etiology usually will be undetermined. The enlargement may be generalized enlargement or it may be confined to either of the jaws. The gingival enlargement is usually treated according to the type of enlargement encountered. In this article, we discussed a rare case report of a 15-year-old young adult with unilateral idiopathic gingival enlargement with unknown etiology and the management of the enlargement with internal bevel gingivectomy. There was no recurrence observed at 2 and 6 months maintenance visits and the healing was better with no discomfort for the patient.
