Abstract
Internal herniation through the broad ligament is extremely rare and twenty cases have beer reported in Japan. We report here such a case with a review of the literature. A 40-year-old woman in i weeks gestation was admitted to the hospital because of an epigastralgia and vomiting. Emergency laparotomy was performed 45 hours later. At surgery, there was an abnormal defect in the right broad ligament, 1.0cm in diameter, with 3cm of ileum at 140cm from the ileocaecal valve herniated through this hiatus from the posterior to anterior. The patient was diagnosed as having an internal herniatiorr through an abnormal defect in the broad ligament, pouch type. And defect of the broad ligament was sutured and closed.
