Abstract

SUMMARYA case of rickets resistant to ordinary vitamin D therapy is described. A familiar factor has, in all likelihood, played a part in the pathogenesis. Treatment with citric acid‐sodium citrate was of no benefit which agrees with the experience of Butler. Massive daily doses of vitamin D, given by mouth in periods of ten to fourteen days had a marked effect on the blood phosphorus and plasma phosphatase concentrations and brought about a conspiciuous healing of the skeletal changes as seen in the X‐ray (see Figs 2 and 3). No toxic reactions to these large doses of vitamin D were seen.
