Abstract

A 39 year-old-male was admitted to the hospital because of bloody sputum and left hemiparesis. Three year before the entry an operation for urinary bladder adenocarcinoma was performed. CT scan of the brain showed an abnormal low density in the right frontal lobe. Chest X-ray film revealed a right upper lobe collapse and an abnormal shadow in the left lower lung field. Bronchoscopic examination showed multiple endobronchial metastasis in the both lung. Brushing cytology specimen disclosed a papillary arrangement of atypical cells with basophilic staining cytoplasm. Irregularity and variation of size and shape in the nuclei and nucleoli were observed. These cytological findings were similar to those of tumor cells in the urinary bladder adenocarcinoma.
